Desert and Delta

Overview

Wing your way over the wide open wilderness of Botswana, exploring three unique areas – the stunning pans of the Northern Kalahari, the water filled Okavango Delta, and the predator rich Savute Reserve. Wildlife viewing is done in open 4×4’s, by boat and mokoro canoes. Travel is by light aircraft between small luxury camps, set in remote area in the national parks.

Savute-Chobe

Chobe National Park is Botswana's first national park, and also the most biologically diverse. Located in the north of the country, it is Botswana's third largest park, after Central Kalahari Game Reserve and Gemsbok National Park, and has one of the greatest concentrations of game in all of Africa.[citation needed] This park is noted for having a population of lions which prey on elephants, mostly calves or juveniles, but also subadults.

Moremi

Moremi Game Reserve is a protected area in Botswana. It lies on the eastern side of the Okavango Delta and was named after Chief Moremi of the BaTawana tribe. Moremi was designated as a game reserve, rather than a national park, when it was created. This designation meant that the BaSarwa or Bushmen that lived there were allowed to stay in the reserve.

Makgadikgadi National Park

The Makgadikgadi Pans National Park is situated south of the Nxai Pan National Park in Botswana and forms with its huge salt pans an impressive surreal landscape. The name Makgadikgadi means „vast, lifeless land”. For those who prefer solitude and silence this is paradise, as even during the high season people are scarce here.
